Rick Ankiel had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Minute Maid Field as the spectacular
Streator Reds beat the SSB SSB Tar Heels 9 to 8.
Ankiel had a big day with his bat. He delivered a single in the 1st inning,
laced a one-base hit in the 2nd inning, smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his
12th of the season) in the 5th inning and doubled which plated a run in the
7th inning. SSB had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Scott Kazmir(14-8) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing
5 runs. Jason Isringhausen was credited with his 17th save. Andy
Pettitte(9-10) was the loser. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 6 innings
of work.
The winning ways continue for Streator. They now have a record of 8-2 in
recent days. With the loss, the SSB ballclub's record is 82-58.
